Restorative dentistry is essential for maintaining oral health and functionality. Untreated tooth decay and damage can lead to more serious health issues, including infections and tooth loss. Restorative procedures not only improve the aesthetic appearance of your smile but also restore proper chewing function, which is vital for nutrition and overall well-being. By addressing dental issues promptly, you can prevent further damage and maintain a healthy, functional mouth.
Fillings
Dental composite fillings are tooth-colored restorations used to repair cavities and minor tooth damage. Made from a mixture of plastic resin and fine glass particles, composite fillings blend seamlessly with natural teeth. The composite bonding capability allows for more conservative tooth preparation, preserving more of the natural tooth structure compared to traditional amalgam fillings. They provide strong, durable repairs while maintaining the esthetic appearance of the smile.
Root Canals
If a tooth gets a deep cavity or crack or becomes infected, a root canal will save it and keep it in your mouth. A soft nerve fills the center of your tooth (called the pulp), and if this becomes symptomatic, a root canal safely removes the infection and alleviates pain or sensitivity. We will fill your tooth with a rubber compound and a sealer paste to replace your tooth's nerve to help preserve the natural tooth as long as possible.
Crowns
A crown cups the portion of the tooth above the gum line, and they are needed to cover natural teeth in the case of cracked teeth, deep cavities, or poor enamel. Usually, people get crowns to strengthen weak teeth or to repair damaged teeth that may have been chipped or broken. If a cavity filling is particularly large or cuts down too close to the root of the tooth, crowns are used to cover the filling in order to protect it.
